BALLO

There is something truly gratifying about shopping local. What you see as a little stand in the big “warehouse” that is Watershed is actually the end result of a number of factors, one of which is passion.

The first thing to greet you on the BALLO website is this video so before we get into the details, here is an amazing introduction to this modern, innovative brand…

I was unhappy with the type of sunglasses I once purchased at a sunglass shop, I than started to pick up a few issues with different designs of sunglasses so thought I would design myself a pair that would different and also the perfect fit. At the core of every eyewood frame is a unique combination of recycled paper and off-cut timber, which are laminated together with a bio resin. This gives our frames durability and allows for any pair of Ballo to be fitted with prescription lenses. We then finish each pair with either off-cut timber; up cycled Denim; ShweShwe or domestic Buffalo horn. Each frame is fitted with high quality polarized lenses and spring hinges. Another goal is to make products as friendly to the environment as they are to the consumer. We are now exporting Ballo to 7 countries around the world and are still having fun. - Alistair Barnes, Founder
