To bring National Women’s Day to life, 9 August, the V&A Waterfront will be hosting two hours (13h00 – 15h00) of energetic performances by all-female buskers. The V&A Amphitheatre will enliven with musical talent that embodies a strong sense of womanhood, identity and empowerment through the art of busking. Read on about the five artists who will be joining us – to set the tone for a vibrant Women’s Day.
Al Petersen is swiftly becoming one of the most sought after solo artists in the Western Cape. Her music is soulful and comes straight from heart, and she has an extensive repertoire of cover songs, and many different genres, from jazz to hip hop or classical to pop.
Upcoming singer/songwriter, Alanna Joy comes with stunning vocals and soothing melodies, she captures audiences with an ambient folk/pop/rock repertoire.
The four-piece female band brings together different musical sounds and backgrounds to play popular songs or original content. The band is a collaboration of violinist Didi, Miceala Kleinsmith, singer/Songwriter/guitarist, pianist Dominique Domingo and Melony Phoenixx on drums.
Captivating independent solo artist, Kathryn Swain, is a singer/songwriter who walks to her own beat and an international rhythm. Described as “the girl with the golden voice” and a “prodigious talent”, Kathryn delights in writing songs focused on love and social commentary.
The rising star, Roxy, is a true force to be reckoned with in the local music industry. Roxy passionately delivers an irresistible blend of indie-pop, rock and soul with every beat.
